H.E. Mavis Ama Frimpong today met with the Director of International Relations at Air France to discuss the future of air travel connectivity between France and Ghana. The meeting centred on a strategic push to resume the direct flight path that was suspended in 2023.
Prioritising Direct Connectivity
The conversation focused on the necessity of reinstating the Paris–Accra route. By removing the need for layovers, both nations stand to benefit from a more efficient corridor for people and commerce.
Strategic Objectives
Re-establishing this link is seen as a key driver for several shared goals:
• Enhanced Trade: Direct flights streamline the movement of business professionals and goods, reducing the "cost of doing business" between the two regions.
•
Stronger Bilateral Ties: A direct connection serves as a physical commitment to the partnership between Ghana and France, fostering closer diplomatic and economic cooperation.
•
Operational Re-Evaluation: Her Excellency formally proposed that Air France re-examine the 2023 decision to halt direct service, citing the current demand and the growth potential of the Ghanaian market.
Moving Forward
The meeting concluded with an agreement to keep the lines of communication between The Mission and Air France open. The Embassy of Ghana in France is committed to advocating for a resolution that supports the interests of Ghanaians, tourists and the business community.
