At the 46th Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, held in Kigali from November 19–20 under the theme “Thirty Years After Beijing: The Contribution of Women in the Francophone World,” all 90 member states renewed their commitment to a united and diverse Francophonie built on shared values and the French language.
Ministers reflected on today’s shifting global landscape and agreed that the OIF must strengthen its role and impact on the international stage. The opening ceremony honoured women leaders in fields like climate finance, AI, immunology, and the arts, with a call for more investment in girls’ and women’s access to technology—especially AI.
The key outcome, the Kigali Appeal, was adopted to boost gender-equality data, increase women’s participation, recognise unpaid work, and embed equality across public policy in the Francophone world.
The conference also launched the nomination period for the next OIF Secretary-General (2027–2030) and confirmed Cambodia as the next host of the 2026 Francophonie Summit, centred on peace and sustainable development.
